Test bench

Power electronics

Validating a converter, a drive or a power board means having a perfectly clean input source. Any imperfection in the supply is indistinguishable from the behaviour of the product under test.

Our equipment provides a stable DC voltage with low ripple, on which your measurements remain interpretable.

Understanding the application

Power electronics testing in detail

Inverters, choppers, drives, on-board chargers, control boards: all of these are tested at their input from a DC source before being qualified. The bench checks efficiency, stability under load, behaviour during transients and performance at the limits of the supply range.

The protocol usually includes tests at the low and high ends of the input range, load variations, and sometimes deliberate voltage dips to test the robustness of the product.

These measurements are only usable if the upstream source is quiet. High residual ripple or slow regulation are superimposed on the very phenomena you are trying to observe.

01

Connection

The board or converter is connected to the DC source.

02

Range sweep

The input voltage is set to the limit values in the specification.

03

Load variations

Behaviour is observed during power steps.

04

Recording

Efficiency and signals are recorded for the validation file.

Key features
Source DC and regulated The equipment under test is judged on its own, with no disturbance from upstream.
Regulation Voltage or current The setpoint holds during the load variations of the converter.
Testing Range sweep The input range is stepped through point by point, repeatably.
Control 0-10 V · 4-20 mA · digital Remote control and automatic sequencing of the test points.
Manufacturing Villette-d'Anthon Design, wiring and testing in-house, with on-site service.
What the rectifier brings

Why the quality of the source changes everything

On this kind of bench the power supply is not an accessory: it is the reference against which the product is judged. An unstable source produces unstable results.

Micronics rectifiers and power supplies offer tight regulation and low ripple, with precise setpoint adjustment. Remote control makes it possible to sweep the test range automatically and archive the measurement points, without touching the front panel.
